Our Lake Nona Lions Marching Band has been working on new pieces. Their theme this year is Abby Road, Music of the Beatles. The marching band plays five songs, Eleanor Rigby, Penny Lane. Yesterday, Sorgin Peppers and Lonely Hearts’ club band. Freshman Amanda Jaspon says “band is a lot of fun. It’s kinda hard but definitely worth it.” Marching band takes hard work and a lot of practice. Our marching band teacher Monica Leimer expects everyone to practice  an average of 30 minutes a night. After asking two seniors Mikaela Juda says “If I’m being honest, I never practice at home.” At least Ms. Leimer has one senior who is practicing outside of school. Owen Muchai practices for at least an hour at home. Freshman Isabella Sanchez was convinced to join band after a few seniors came to the middle school ” They seemed so nice and happy they convinced me to join. Being in marching band has taught me life lessons just like anything else. “Band has taught me to not judge a book by its cover” (Mikaela Juda 12). “Band has taught me everyone is unique. Each and everyone of the people are unique individuals with different talents and personalities(Owen Muchai 12). Ms.Leimer’s favorite memories with the class of 2018 is when they all came into band camp wearing togas and played songs during their freshman year.
