On Wednesday the girls water polo team faced Boone High School in the District final game at Lake Howell High School. Junior Catherine Morin said “After Boone made the first goal of the game, we knew we had to step up and play stronger than we ever have before.” Junior Kerstyn Farley made the first goal for Nona tying the game 1-1 in the first 2 minutes. Nona got 3 more goals by Junior Jordan Agliano in the first quarter making the score 4-1. Junior ad goalie Melisa Sakalas said “ We were all working really hard and then the third quarter came and it’s like we lost the spark from the first 2 quarters. We just kept on letting them score making it 7-5, which was nerve racking.” They played strong the rest of the game and beat Boone with a score of 13-5. They are now on their way to regionals next week and one step closer to states.
